Obama signs 'Press Freedom Act,' refuses questions from the press
President Barack Obama signed the Press Freedom Act on Monday, this law expands the State Department's annual human rights reports to include a description of press freedoms in each country.
But what about the United States?
After he signed the act into law, Obama did not allow the press to ask him any questions. He promptly said, no questions.
Throughout the Obama administration, the press has been stifled, much like in communist countries. We'll see what the future brings.
IN THE NEWS:
CBS News: Press Freedom, Sure. But No Questions.

Obama to FNC's Garrett: We have been consistent (consistently inconsistent on Iran, that is)
President Barack Obama first criticizes Fox News' Major Garrett and then circles around the question, as usual.
Obama, Huffington Post conspire on staged question
This proves that the Huffington Post is not a real news source.

DAY 100: Media underhands softball questions to Obama
President Barack Obama circled the questions, and they weren't that difficult. He had a prepared list on who he was going to allow to ask those questions too. He only allowed the liberal media to speak, and then lastly, The Wall Street Journal.
Apparently, BET is more newsy than Fox News Channel. Fox's Major Garret sat in the front row, right in front of Obama and he just looked right over him. Apparently, tonight was easy questions night.
BET is owned by CBS, and CBS News was allowed to ask a question. So they get two chances?
The question of the night was from the New York Times, just watch and listen, and laugh.
I see why Fox network didn't air this. It was a joke. It wasn't a press conference, it was a speech. Nothing was answered, he just ran around the questions and smiled and said, uh, uh, uh, hmmm, and added some good phrases along the way.
Nothing was asked about why that plane flew over New York City. Little was said about the budget passed by Congress today. Little was said about Chrysler and General Motors. All he did was circle around.

Obama has list of interviewees at press conferences
President Barack Obama had a little problem on Monday at his press conference. You see, Obama selects certain people to ask him questions. Good thing that Fox News is one of them.
Ok, here's what happened, when it came time for Obama to select Chuck Todd of NBC News, he didn't realize that he was not in the room. Obama said, according to The Wall Street Journal, "All, Chuck Todd. Where's Chuck?" Then later in the press conference when it came time to select Major Garrett of Fox News he had the same question, "Where's Major?"
I guess even Obama follows a script in his non-scripted White House.
